Staying Reachable During Meetings Without Being Interrupted
The problem is not that your phone rings. It is that you cannot tell which ring was worth it until afterwards.
Set availability to unavailable for the meeting, and name the people who should still reach you. The concierge answers everything else, captures who called and why, and hands you the results when you are out. You are interrupted only by the callers you chose.
Why silencing the phone is not the same
Do Not Disturb solves the interruption by discarding the information. You come out of the meeting to a list of missed calls and no idea which one mattered, so you either call them all back or gamble. The interruption moved; it did not go away.
A concierge inverts that. The calls still get answered — just not by you — and what you come out to is a list of reasons rather than a list of numbers.
An example
A ninety-minute meeting produces four calls. One is a client confirming an address: Message Taken. One is a supplier chasing an invoice: Follow-Up Needed. Two are nuisance calls: Handled. You spend two minutes afterwards, not twenty, and you never wondered mid-meeting whether to look at your phone.
